Support The Shelter of Hope
The Shelter of Hope is the only homeless shelter in Catawba County that houses men, women and families. We are open 365 days a year and anyone can come for a hot meal between the hours of 5-6 pm. We need your help to keep the Shelter open for those who would otherwise have nowhere to go. Your donation helps us keep individuals and families safe and off the streets. A $30 donation will shelter and feed one person for one night.
Meet Ms. Elizabeth
Ms. Elizabeth does not consider herself homeless. At 86 years of age, she found herself without a place to call home. Fortunately, there was space in our shelter for her and she has been a part of our temporary, emergency housing Shelter of Hope ever since. Also known as "the rose lady", Ms. Elizabeth takes pride in pruning the rose bushes that lead up to the shelter. She makes beautiful bouquets that she shares with shelter residents and staff. She is also an avid piano player and most recently a Yahtzee champion. It is her hope to be reunited with loved ones soon and move back into a more permanent housing situation.
