How Your Gift Changes Lives

Through its youth programs, The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte has served children for more than 85 years, making it one of the most experienced and trusted providers of out-of-school-time programs for children in grades K–12 in Mecklenburg County.

Daily Snacks

Every day, we provide snacks for our members to give them the energy boost they need for the day. You can provide snacks for a child for a week, a whole program location for a day or a whole program location for a week.

Through programs such as Money Matters, our youth program members learn financial responsibility and basics such as budgeting, saving and investing.

Sports Equipment

Physical fitness is a key focus area for our Red Shield Youth Centers. We want to ensure that children stay active and healthy. You can support these efforts with a contribution to ensure we have adequate sports equipment such as soccer balls, basketballs and sports uniforms.

At our Red Shield Youth Centers, through specialized activities and projects, we emphasize the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. STEM kits allow our members to solve problems, experiment with robotics and more.

Send a Kid to Camp

Our programs ramp up even further in the summer, as we offer a full summer day camp at an affordable weekly cost. In addition, we offer children a weeklong traditional camp experience at Camp Walter Johnson in Denton, N.C. You can send a kid to camp, or sponsor a whole summer of camp for a child.

Throughout the summer and when opportunities arise during the school year, we are able to take impactful field trips - offering our members experiences they wouldn’t otherwise have. Your support helps to cover transportation expenses, discount ticket purchases, meals and more.
